Continue reading Megan & Sean: Married in Shelton, CT I’ll start off by saying that this was a highly-anticipated wedding that was referred to us by the Shannon/Joseph wedding of last year. We love referrals and are always glad to hear that previous clients are so happy with our work. In many ways, wedding photography is a labor of love and nothing could be more rewarding than positive feedback like that.
Anyway, let’s get back to Megan and Sean and their fabulous wedding. They are a fun couple who were an absolute pleasure to work with. It took almost no effort for them to warm up to the camera and really I think the photos say it all. We started off with a quick shoot at home…

Continue reading Shannon & Joseph: The Stone Barn This has probably been the most anticipated blog post of 2010. Shannon and Joseph are a great couple, good-natured and fun-loving, and quite frankly we were really excited about shooting their wedding. In fact, a last-minute planning session we had outside in the pouring rain two nights before was more fun than it otherwise would have been without their positive attitudes. The wedding was great, the weather was perfect, and a great time was had by all! There was a doggie in a tux, a golf cart race, and all kinds of other fun stuff. By the way, let me just take a moment to say that The Stone Barn at Whitney Farms Golf Club is a beautiful location and The Groove Junkies did a great job at keeping the energy up all night.  And now on to the photos…

We’ll start with a few shots before the ceremony.  Shannon is simply glowing here!

The girls kept telling me they wanted fun portraits… so I don’t quite know what they’re doing here but it looks like fun to me.

By the way, I should have said it above but these autumn style bouquets were really cool.

The Stone Barn is gorgeous. This looks exactly like something out of Brides magazine.

Time to get serious for the ceremony… and we get to see Joe for the first time.

It was truly a beautiful and sweet ceremony.

After the ceremony we took a few minutes to head up to the highest point on the golf course. Between the gorgeous wedding party and scenery like this we got some really stunning images. 800 pixels on this blog doesn’t do them justice.

I don’t know where you get a doggie tux from but it is awesome.

Continue reading Pamela & Daniel Get Married! Wow.  Pamela and Daniel are just about the nicest and friendliest couple you could hope to meet and I was really excited when they offered me the chance to shoot their wedding in Meriden, CT.  A highlight for me was a trip to Hubbard Park for some dedicated photography time between the ceremony and the reception and I think the results speak for themselves.  It also just so happened to be my favorite time of the day when the sun is golden and the colors just come to life.  Awesome weather, awesome couple, awesome wedding.  Congrats guys!

I usually don’t do black & white but in special cases like this one there’s a certain refreshing and honest quality to it.

Continue reading Nina & Nic tie the knot in NH I love weddings and I love road trips, so you can imagine that when Nina and Nic offered us the opportunity to photograph their wedding at the beautiful Shattuck Golf Club in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, I was thrilled.  It was a perfect day and although a slight drizzle redirected the ceremony inside, the temps and humidity were kept in check and the sun came out when we needed it to for a few quick bridal party shots.  The entire day was filled with energy and overall good vibes… but anyway, on to the photos.  Let’s start it off with some detail shots.

Continue reading Portraits with Heather & Dave, Lindsay & Chris, and Kristen & Fahad When the opportunity to shoot not one, not two, but THREE gorgeous couples presented itself, we couldn’t help but jump at the chance.  Heather, Lindsay, and Kristin are sisters and were looking for some fun portraits to use as a gift for their mom.  The girls and their boys – Dave, Chris, and Fahad – were a complete blast to work with and quite frankly the images speak for themselves.  We had a great time.

Originally this shoot was scheduled to take place in Manchester, CT but upon arriving at the location a little bit early to scope things out, we discovered that the place was packed with people and therefore not an ideal situation.  Plan B was Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, CT which not only gave us a bit more space to work but also had some really poppin’ colors.  We wrapped up the shoot a few blocks away at the UConn Law School campus.

By the way, all of these were shot with the Canon 7D.  I’m loving it.  Paired up with a good piece of glass and you have yourself a contender.

Continue reading Jen and Cristhian This Sunday we had a great opportunity to shoot a fun little engagement session with Jen and Cristhian in West Hartford, CT.  It was a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine and smiles all around.  Oooh, and they brought along their cute little doggy.  We had a blast.

There were so many fun moments from this shoot, I thought it would be nice to create a little movie of a few alternate takes I couldn’t fit here.  Turn up your speakers and press play!  By popular demand, we are excited to offer professional high-definition DVD slideshows of any event, even if we weren’t the photographer - but they come out especially good if we were.

Continue reading Spring Time Photography in Connecticut Weird weather we’re having.  Just last week we had a couple of gorgeous days and the parks were packed with people… and then we had a weekend of rain and crazy high wind and then last night the temperature flirted with 30 degrees.  I had just enough time to get out there and take a few shots of the spring colors before the petals fell off!

Does anyone know what kind of flowers these are?

I think these are tulips, right?

Anyway, I’m anxious to get back out there.  We had to cancel a scheduled outdoor shoot on Saturday because the weather was so bad… but we’re rescheduled for this Sunday which is supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny!  I’m psyched!

So you may be wondering what this is.  It is yet another delicious culinary masterpiece from the wifey, “rocky road bars.”  It’s an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie base with a small layer of chocolate on top followed by a generous mound of melted marshmallows.  I could eat a billion of these things.  With the proper incentive I could be coaxed into divulging the recipe…

Continue reading Portraits with Nina, Nic, Rory, Aubrey About three weeks ago we met up with Nina, Nic, Rory, and Aubrey in Enfield, CT for a meeting to discuss some details about Nina & Nic’s up-and-coming wedding which we’re super excited about shooting in June.

Continue reading Happy Birthday Gabriella! It feels great to be back in the swing of things after a terrific vacation.  Last Saturday we had a wonderful opportunity to shoot Gabriella’s first birthday party at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  It was a terrific party with great food, animals, and a carousel!  I’ll show you some of the details in a moment but without further ado, here is Gabriella with her mom!

Okay, check out these AMAZING cakes and frosted cupcakes.   These are just too cute and too delicious!  And the zebra stripes and chocolate spots, a perfect match for the day at the zoo.

The kids loved this part, an exciting animal encounter.

I think this was a chinchilla!

Up next is of course a turtle.  The kids got to pet them both and I think Gabriella was not a huge fan of the turtle.  Her brother, on the other hand, seemed to like it.
